Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s foreign minister, during his stay in New York for the UNGA, sat down with Osman Saleh Mohammed, Eritrea’s foreign minister, on Saturday evening.
The two ministers reviewed bilateral relations and discussed ways to expand cooperation in various areas of mutual interest. They also exchanged views on regional and international developments.
Both sides stressed the importance of greater cooperation among Islamic countries in confronting common challenges, particularly the unprecedented threat posed by Israel’s expansionism and warmongering. They stressed the urgent need for collective action by Muslim nations and the international community to stop the genocide of Gazans and to hold Israeli leaders accountable.
The two top diplomats also highlighted the importance of stronger cooperation among developing countries in economic and technological fields, as well as in countering illegal and unilateral sanctions.
They emphasized coordination in international forums, especially the Human Rights Council and the General Assembly, and closer alignment within groups such as the Friends of the UN Charter.
